The Alkcare Foundation, an elderly care organization in Alkmaar, was the first in The Netherlands to implement Elma® Detection sensor solution in 2024 at the De Oldeburgh location. The project was realized with the help of MariCare authorised partner New Caresolutions and it includes 178 Elma® sensors in 68 rooms. After a successful test phase at the 't Rekerheem location, Alkcare decided to replace the existing nurse call system with the Elma® Detection technology.
Mark Prinsen, the location manager, highlights the system’s role in enhancing resident well-being and coping with growing care demands. Elma® Detection enables better and more efficient, discreet elderly care. The solution brings safety by minimizing falls, injuries and reduces unnecessary nurse visits, giving the care home residents the precious liberty of retaining independent lives. The collected movement data also reveals changes in resident's behaviour that would otherwise be left unidentified.
After implementation, all employees were trained in the use of the Elma® technology. Key user Manon de Bruin emphasizes: "Employees were immediately enthusiastic because the system fits in perfectly with our vision of care. It is user-friendly and really supports us in providing person-centered care."
In addition to the care centers De Oldeburgh and 't Rekerheem, Alkcare is now exploring the use of MariCare technology for home care services to ensure client safety and care quality.
